Valerio Adami

(Bologna, 17 March 1935)

His work started from an expressionist painting experience influenced by Francis Bacon which then evolved to abstract-gestural painting. Later he explored recovering the figurazion, according to the modules of American Pop Art and in particular of Roy Lichtenstein, developing a sort of fantastic and ironic comics in which, in depersonalized interiors, we find trivial objects, taken as symbols, even sexual, of modernity.
The style is distinguished by the use of a chromatic material in flat, smooth and continuous layers, inside the sharp black fences of the drawing.
