(Biella, 25 June 1933)
A great connoisseur of Italian art, he was a painter and sculptor, animator and protagonist of the poor art movement.
His creative activity in the field of painting is expressed also through numerous self-portraits, on canvases prepared with metallic imprimitura and subsequently on polished steel surfaces.
The use of mirrors in Pistoletto's works represents the artist's desire to exploit the third dimension, space, and above all time.
His work Venere degli Stracci, 1967, is an emblem.
