Enrico Baj

Enrico Baj

(Milan, 31 October 1924 – Vergiate, 16 June 2003)

Baj utilised several techniques ranging from dripping to collage, sometimes together with inlay and veneer, as in his work Modificazioni (1959-1960).
In Cravatte of 1967-1968 he utilised plastic materials.
The Apocalisse of 1978 is a tridimentional puzzle that takes him again to the theatre after the experience of the 1960s.
Surrealism and Dadaism marked profoundly his work, the collages made of different materials (medals, buttons, scaffoldings, paint mixes) are close from one side to the work of Kurt Schwitters and Francis Picabia, and to the other are affected by Alfred Jarry with his Ubu Roi.
