(Trapani 1924 - Rome 2014)
Carla Accardi is one of the most original artists of the second post WWII period in Italy.
After completing her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, in 1947, subscribing to formalism, she then cofounded, together with Attardi, Consagra, Piero Dorazio, Guerrini, Perilli, Antonio Sanfilippo (whom she married in 1949) and Turcato, the artistic vanguard group called Forma Uno, which had Marxist ideals.
In 1996 she became member of the dell’Accademia di Brera and in 1997 she was a committee member of the Venice Biennale, as counsellor.
In 1998 Trapani honoured her with the anthological exhibition, "Carla Accardi: Opere 1947 - 1997".
